Jurisdictional Notes
Canada
Palm leaf and sea grape tableware are suitable for foodservice use. EPR-exempt under Ontario Blue Box and BC Recycle BC programs (certified compostable materials). Documentation available for institutional review.
United States
In May 2025, the FDA issued Import Alert 23-15 on areca palm leaf products due to alkaloid migration concerns. Palm leaf products are not currently available for US distribution. Sea grape leaf tableware is unaffected and available for US markets.
European Union
Material aligns with compostable packaging standards.
